Big Bear Lake, CA, August 7, 2013 – In 2011, Susan Jones of Xenon Motors decided to aim for a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS® title for “The Longest Journey on an Electric Scooter,” a lofty goal that has evolved even further into the Ride the Future Tour: an electric vehicle road trip that will span the width of the United States, host celebrations in 44 different locations along the way, and attempt to set not one, but four, world records. The caravan set out from Charleston, SC on July 4th and will make a stop in the Village’s Bartlett event area tonight from 5:30 to 7:30.
The Ride The Future Tour is being completed by a group of 12 people traveling 3,000 miles, using only Google maps and zero gas. The transcontinental journey is being captured on film as part of a documentary, putting a unique spin on the need to move towards a cleaner future. The film will highlight the beauty of the American landscape, big cities, small towns and the people met along the way.
Big Bear residents are invited to be among those people at the community meet-and-greet. E-bikes will be available to try out, then the party will continue at Club Bombay, where Dominique Arciero of the Lunabelles will perform. Guests are welcome to enter the raffle for an A2B bike or a Xenon Scooter. Other electric vehicles on display will include a Zero Motorcycle and a Nissan Leaf.
