DUANE IS ALL SET TO CROSS THE FINISH LINE AT THE GOOGLE HQ IN THE NISSAN LEAF!

DUANE SMALLER

Duane Leffel is ready to hit the road in the 2013 Nissan Leaf.  After many years of spending his days in his corporate office, he is really looking forward to joining the Ride The Future Tour for a fun filled 44 day excursion across America. He is hoping his 2 daughters can be there at the Finish Line to cheer him in as he is the first person to set the Guinness World Record in an electric car.

A LITTLE BACKGROUND ON DUANE:

Duane Leffel is a Sales & Marketing professional with over 30 years in the Automotive and Construction industries. For the past 28 years, Duane has held numerous positions including Director with Nissan North America; most recently he spent the past 4years in Nissan’s luxury division Infiniti. Prior to Nissan, Duane worked for Caterpillar Tractor Company in their Parts & Service Sales division in Peoria, Illinois.

Among Duane’s career highlights are the oversight of a $1Billion incentive budget, 12 years pricing new Nissan and Infiniti models, and the development of a $1 Billion pricing strategy proposal which was approved by the top executives in the company.

Using his years of pricing experience, Duane has given speeches at Professional Pricing Society and pricing conventions on topics from pricing tactics to pricing system and business case development. His ability to connect Brand value, Pricing and the 4 P’s of Marketing to a product everyone can relate to (i.e. Cars & Trucks) has made him a popular speaker at these events.

An avid sports fan, Duane enjoys playing racquetball, golf, softball, and bowling. He’s a die-hard Cleveland Browns and Indians fan and hopes to someday celebrate a championship with them. Duane also enjoys music, traveling, steam trains, covered bridges, New England in the Fall, and touring the countryside on his Goldwing motorcycle.

Duane lives in Nashville, Tn as an eligible bachelor with his cat Blackie. He has two daughters, Jenaia and Cayia, in college now in Houston, Tx of whom he is a proud and loving father. Duane has a degree in metallurgical engineering from the University of Cincinnati.

MORE PERSONAL BIO ON DUANE

Age you think  you are: 24  ( I have to be 1 year older than my oldest daughter)
Favorite Country in the World: The U.S..A. … it’s such a beautiful country with opportunity for everyone who makes the effort
Where would you live if Money was Not an Object: A permanent home on the beach in California that is fire, earthquake, drought, mudslide, and wind-proof with inflatable pontoons if it slips into the ocean and which re-harnesses all that energy.
Biggest Accomplishment So Far: Raising two great daughters, Jenaia & Cayia… and doing public speaking on vehicle pricing topics.
Biggest Regret:  I have found that second-guessing past decisions only torture you and erode your self confidence that you need for the future. No regrets.
Favorite Movie Star: Hmm.. I have to say the Duke…John Wayne,,,, not that he was the best actor, but it’s what he stood for. Tom Hanks in Forrest Gump and Dustin Hoffman in Rainman are right up there in terms of true talent.
Would you Go Back and Do Teenage Years over: Hell YES….I would have SOOOOOOoo  much more fun than I had in reality..  :)
WHat do you Miss The most: A female partner in my life
Best Memory: The smile on the neurosurgeon’s face when he told me he had successfully removed an pilo-cystic astrocytoma tumor from my oldest daughters brain when she was 10.
What Do you Still Want to Accomplish:  Touring the World and leaving a contribution to society.
What is Your Greatest Fear: Losing a loved one; I lost a brother many years ago and it is forever etched in my memory.
What do You Hope for in a Partner: Romance.,, and a sense of humor for my silly songs
Favorite Song of All Time: Believe in Me (Dan Fogelberg)
Favorite Singer/Band: Dan Fogelberg  (one of the best ballad writers EVER) After him I have many..the Eagles Rascal Flatts, Brad Paisley, Phil Collins, Hall & Oates, etc etc
Why Ride The Future Tour: To help promote
1) the idea that everyone can contribute to a healthier future for the planet and
