You might not think of putting “Gucci” and “green” in the same sentence (unless you’re talking about a fabulous dress), but the luxury designer is exuding eco-friendly as of late with their release of a new line of sustainable designer handbags.
Could I be more excited??
I have a serious soft spot for bags. Bags and shoes are my weakness and you could bribe me to do just about anything for the right handbag. I’m a sucker for gorgeous styling and unexpected details which tends to conflict my whole “I don’t eat animals” thing since most of the beautiful hobos and clutches out there are made from leather that comes from poorly regulated trade practices. Ugh. What’s a girl to do?
Well apparently, a girl’s to buy Gucci. The classic designer just launched the Gucci for Green Carpet Challenge Handbag Collection made from leather from a group of four ranches in Brazil that are known for conscientious efforts in protecting wildlife habitats, providing ethical treatment to livestock, promoting the rights and wellbeing of ranch workers, and helping to curb deforestation. That alone is enough to win me over, but throw in that Gucci donated $65,000 to the National Wildlife Federation to promote reforestation efforts and that the bags are DROP DEAD GORGEOUS cherry red beauties and I’ve become the brand’s #1 fan. Some celebs that might fight me on that #1 spot include Drew Barrymore and Jessica Biel, but they seem like good company to keep.
Time for a shopping trip to the Gucci store! What do you think about Gucci’s new green direction? Seems like celebs are loving the eco-friendly life!
