Luci Hitches Ride with Ride the Future Tour to Promote Clean Energy and Set a Guinness World Record
New York, NY – July 30, 2013: MPOWERD Inc., makers of the LuciTM inflatable solar lantern (www.mpowerd.com), has joined the Ride the Future Tour (www.ridethefuturetour.com) to help promote the benefits of clean energy. Looking to set a Guinness World Record for the longest distance traveled aboard an electric scooter, team member, Rachel McCarthy, has taken Luci along to help shine a light on sustainable energy. Ride the Future’s team of 10 are attempting to travel 3,000 miles across the country in 43 days, riding electric motorcycles, scooters, cars and bicycles. The team expects to arrive, with Luci by their side, at their final destination on August 16, 2013 at the Google Headquarters in Mountain View, CA.
According to tour mastermind, Susan Jones, owner of Nashville’s Xenon Motor Company (www.xenonmotorcompany.com), “Ride the Future aims to demonstrate the importance of moving towards clean, affordable and sustainable sources of energy to help combat the many environment threats our planet faces,” adding, “A feature length documentary of the tour with some Luci cameos will be available for presale for those who sign up at www.ridethefuturetour.com.”
MPOWERD shares a similar goal, which made the decision for its Luci light to join the tour a natural one. “We believe the Ride the Future Tour is literally shining attention on the future path to coexisting on our wonderful planet, so we’re pleased to play a part in spreading the word about clean energy by having our Luci light join the tour,” said John Salzinger, Senior Director of Business Development and Co-founder of MPOWERD. “As a B-Corp, MPOWERD and Luci are built around smarter, greener and more affordable energy solutions for all. As a result, we share with Susan Jones and her team what we consider to be an all important, progressive DNA.”
While on the tour, McCarthy will not only keep Luci attached to her scooter, she will also set up a children’s booth in various towns and involve Luci in engaging children and their parents around the importance of sustainable energy. “I’m thrilled to have Luci along for the ride because she’s an amazing sun-powered light as well as a source of inspiration in spreading the important message about the positive steps we can all take towards a cleaner, greener world,” said McCarthy.
